My firewire hardware was acting up, so I deleted it from my Device Manager, hoping it would reinstall on reboot. It didn't, but prompted me to find the driver. I reinstalled all the drivers that came with my Asus A7N8X Deluxe, but Windows couldn't find the 1394 driver. So I popped in my WinXP disk and it couldn't find it there, nor could it find it in my system folders in my Windows directory. The problem began when I plugged a new camcorder into the computer.

I reloaded the drivers install program (still the latest) and rebooted. Still I was prompted for the drivers. I pointed the searcher to the Windows system folders and it couldn't find the driver in either folder. So I'm left with my firewire ports in my Device Manager as a yellow question mark and, of course, my firewire connections won't work. Seems to me the driver was a single file made by Microsoft.
